Digital forensics investigation is the process of identifying, extracting, preserving and documenting the computer evidence through digital tool. Data which has been recovered, processed or investigated has to be preserved digitally and has to be produced as evidence in the court of law that too in digital format. This is the entire process in study of digital forensics. Also, the forensic analyst or the forensic team, the people who are involved in this process is also part of this digital forensics. So, it deals with all the strategies, technologies and the tools that comes under the digital space wherein not only investigating the crime but securing, processing and presenting the evidence requires.
Digital forensic investigation is usually applied in the corporate sector including any kinds of hacking events or corporate events or wherever there is an environment which has to be completely dealt with digital technologies, any kind of network intrusions, system hacks, data breaches, malware infections, firewalls being broken, databases either completely being stolen, or tampered disruptions in any of these areas mentioned fall in the purview of digital forensic investigation.
It is mostly dealt these days in the corporate world not only for the data being presented as evidence in the court of law in the digital format itself but also to ensure compliance of security procedure.
