1. Identify what needs backup.
2. Identify the methods or options available for backup.
3. Consider multi-device backup.
4. Consider multi-location backup.
5. Consider cloud backup.
6. Take regular backups of your important data and test that they can be restored whenever needed.
7. Make sure the devices the data is backed up to are in working condition.
8. Ensure that the devices the data is backed up to are safe even in case of accidents, theft, fire, natural calamities, or hacking/ransomware attacks.
9. Use proper antivirus.
10. Install only approved software.
11. Install only approved applications.
12. Patch all software and activate the automatic update option.
13. Be careful about access to external inputs like CD drives/USBs.
14. Switch on your firewall.
